A warm, comforting classic with soft apples and a buttery, crunchy crumble topping.
Ingredients
For the filling
- 6 large apples (Bramley or Granny Smith), peeled & sliced
- 50g sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
For the crumble
- 150g plain flour
- 100g cold butter, cubed
- 80g sugar
- Pinch of salt
Method
1. Prepare the apples
- Toss sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice.
- Add to a baking dish.
2. Make the crumble
- Rub butter into flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
- Stir in sugar and salt.
- Sprinkle over the apples.
3. Bake
- Bake at 190°C (170°C fan) for 35–40 minutes until golden and bubbling.
