A family favourite — juicy meatballs in a rich tomato sauce.

Ingredients

For the meatballs:

  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 egg
  • 50g breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs
  • Salt & pepper

For the sauce:

  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tin chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato purée
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp oil

300g spaghetti

Method

  1. Mix mince, egg, breadcrumbs, herbs, salt and pepper; form meatballs.
  2. Brown meatballs in a pan and set aside.
  3. Fry onion and garlic, add purée, tomatoes and oregano.
  4. Return meatballs to the sauce and simmer 20 minutes.
  5. Cook spaghetti and serve with the meatballs.
